Dreadnaught Body Acoustic Guitar

The dreadnaught is the most iconic type of guitar. Invented in the late 1800's by Martin Guitars to be heard in traditional roots and bluegrass music, the dreadnaught is big and loud. Due to its large body shape, it requires much more force to be used during strumming to get full projection. However, this provides the dreadnaught with the largest dynamic range and control of any acoustic guitar. This guitar style is suitable for any type of music, but traditional country and folk is where it shines. Many modern producers and recording artists tend to prefer the brighter top end of concert body guitars, but personally I prefer the deep and complex sound of the dreadnaught. The main downside of these guitars is how big they are. Many women and most young children find these uncomfortable to play.
