Hoop earrings, sneaker culture (Jordan), lettuce hem, and more,
are some styles invented by African-Americans and/or predominately adorned by. It is also a symbol of cultural identity and resistance
against oppression.

The Harlem Renaissance in Harlem, New York of 1920's and 1930's,
was one of the most significant eras of cultural expression. This was a
time for African American artists, writers, fashionists', and musicians
to express themselves and their culture: bold colors, flapper dresses,
pearl necklaces, shorter hemlines, intricate patterns, beaded dresses,
fur coats, and more.
