Hair porosity refers to how well your hair absorbs and retains moisture.
Understanding your porosity level helps in choosing the right products
and techniques for your hair
Prorsity levels
On each starnd of your hair, there are cuticles and those cuticle open and close
to absorb and lock in moisture for your hair. Your hair's porosity is based on how
open or closed thoes cuticles are. There are three different porosity levels, which are:
Low porosity: With low porosity hair, the cuticles are shut very tightly as to
where little or no moisture is getting absorbed. If you have this hair porosity, you might notice that
water just beads up sits on your hair since it's not being absorbed.
High porosity: With high porosity hair, it's the complete opposit of low porosity.
The cuticle are open wide, so moisture is being absorbed and released very easily. With high porosity
hair you might notice that your hair dries very fast, since those cuticles aren't sealing any moisture in.
Medium porosity: With medium porosity hair it's a mix of both low and high porosity.
The cuticle are slightly open, but not closed, allowing moisture to get in, but not escapre so easily.
This would be the most ideal level of porosity
